Papers of Clarence E. Cox, 1918-1960.

The papers contain a diary 1918 September 19 to 1919 January 13 with very brief notes on training at Camp Lee, Va., passage on the Hamburg Amerikan Liner "Amerika," which also carried African Americans of the 367th, life in France where the war ended before Cox was in action, and voyage home on the Nord Deutsche "Antigone." An inventory of personal supplies for himself and others is included. The collection also contains ca. 30 photographs of Cox and friends. There are snapshots of World War I comrades, both American and French, two oversized company photographs, and miscellaneous photos of friends and teams. The oversize photographs are of the 2nd Battery Officers Training Camp, Camp Lee, Va., 1918, and the 52nd Artillery C.A.C., Camp Eustis, Va., 1919. Miscellaneous items include menus, passes, address book, and items related to [his wife?] Zelma Rude Cox of Franklin, Pa.
